A Unique Point of View

After years in the business of graphic design, including many as the owner of Design Communications in Pound Ridge NY, Laure Dunne turned to her lifelong passion for photography. Attracted to both the natural world and built environments, her photographs emphasize composition and graphic forms, and reflect the influence of her design background.

Laure’s photographs have been exhibited in museums and gallery shows throughout the northeast, including the Mattatuck Museum, Waterbury CT (solo show); the Flinn Gallery, Greenwich CT (group show; and the New Britain Museum of Modern Art, New Britain CT. She received the FOTO DC Book Award for her book “… and mercy more than life!” in 2002, and it is currently in the permanent collection of the National 9/11 Museum in New York City.

Laure received a BFA from Indiana University and has studied photography at New York University and the International Center of Photography. She is an exhibiting member of Silvermine Guild of Artist, New Canaan CT; Rowayton Arts Center, Norwalk CT; Duxbury (MA) Art Center; Ridgefield (CT) Guild of Artists; Mattatuck Museum (Waterbury CT); New Britain (CT) Museum of Modern Art; The Artists Collective of Westport (CT); and West Hartford (CT) Guild of Artists.

Countless visual experiences slip by unnoticed in our daily routines. As an artist, she find significance in the objects and scenes we often stumble upon but rarely truly see.

Her work is not about "postcard" images. It is a reflection of what she observes and appreciates—transforming the commonplace into unique fine art wall decor for homes, offices, and galleries.
